There are lots of great things happening at NCA this week!

Friday, May 19 at 12:00 p.m. First Responder's Appreciation Luncheon
We have invited police, fire and ambulance authorities from Antrim, Kalkaska and Otsego counties to join us for an appreciation luncheon on Friday. The event is open to families and we encourage you to come out to thank our community heroes!

Thursday, May 18 and Friday, May 19 at 6:30 p.m. "Operation Redneck" Theatre Presentation
The North Central Academy theatre department proudly presents "Operation Redneck", a comedy by D.M. Larson. This play seeks to find the humor in the culture clash of city and rural life. She's a country girl who moves to the big city to study at college. Her boyfriend is an environmentalist lawyer who supports gun control. Her father has an unregistered armory and her uncle is a big game hunter - what happens when they meet? Join us at Corey Auditorium to find out! This PG rated performance is being presented free of charge on May 18th and 19th at 6:30 p.m. Come out for a good laugh and support the High School theatre program at North Central Academy!

Full details can be found on the 9&10 News Community Calendar http://wwtv.eviesays.com/event/6334668/operation-redneck-comedy-by-d-m-larson?tid=43992866

Pet Supplies Donation Drive - Donations due by Friday, May 19
The National Honor Society is collecting all manner of pet supplies to donate to a local rescue organization. Old towels, blankets, collars, leashes, toys, pet food or even monetary donations are being accepted through Friday, May 19th. The NHS students will personally deliver the donated items and spend time with the animals currently housed with the organization.
Classroom Salute

Recently, Joe Charlevoix with 7 & 4 News visited North Central Academy to check out some of the great things that NCA students are doing. Mrs. Hook's first and second graders were the first class to be featured on the news with their classroom salute airing this morning! The students were shown working on some fun pottery and painting projects in Ms. Hoffman's art class. Mr. Charlevoix visited several other classes while he was here, so keep your eyes peeled for more NCA students in the news!

1stResponders

On Friday, May 19, 2017 North Central Academy will be hosting a first responder's appreciation luncheon. The school has invited first responders from Antrim, Otsego and Kalkaska counties to join us for the afternoon. Invitations have been sent to fire departments, ambulance authorities and law enforcement for each county. In addition to thanking these agencies for their dedication and service to our communities, we feel it is an opportunity for the students of North Central Academy to interact with members of our community in a positive manner. We invite our families to also attend the luncheon and join us in thanking our community heroes. We look forward to seeing all of you on the 19th at noon. If you are interested in contributing to the luncheon, please contact our office at 231-584-2080.

If you are an Antrim county resident, you may spot a fancy new D.A.R.E car running around the area. The car features the logos of area schools that Deputy John Morris services, including North Central Academy. Deputy Morris was kind enough to let us snap a few photos of his sharp new ride to share on our social media channels. NCA's new collegiate style logo looks great on Deputy Morris' car and it will look great on yours too! We have free car stickers available in the office for all families that want to showcase their NCA pride. Stop in and pick yours up today, or give us a call and we can send one home with your student!

Secondary Parents/Guardians:

Between now and the end of the year, we would like to improve our secondary culture of respect and kindness. To achieve this goal, we met with all secondary students today to reiterate the policies for uniforms, discipline and attendance expectations. Students were provided with a printed handout of the expectations during the meeting. If you would like a copy to review, please contact our office and we will be happy to provide one.

  • Students are required to be in uniform daily. If your student is out of uniform, you will receive a call and be required to deliver a uniform to them.
  • Students are expected to report to every class in a timely manner and stay for the duration. Skipping classes will result in lunch detention and eventual suspension if the problem persists.
  • Repeated disruption of the positive learning environment, or inappropriate language, will be dealt with via a progressive suspension policy which is already in place.

We will begin actively enforcing these policies on Monday, April 10.

Earlier, a letter was emailed home to parents addressing these expectations. You may view and download a copy of the letter here.

As always, your support is valued and appreciated.
This is just a reminder that our Spring Break runs from March 27 through March 31st. Classes will resume on Monday, April 3rd at 8am. We hope that everyone has a safe and enjoyable vacation!
