Enroll Today!

North Central Academy is still accepting new enrollments.  If you are interested in possibly enrolling your child, please fill out the Online Enrollment Inquiry form and someone from the office will contact you to set up a tour.

If applications exceed the positions available, a random lottery selection will be held. Any students exceeding the limit would be added to the waiting list in the order the application was received. If a lottery drawing is needed, names will be drawn until all available classroom positions are filled. Any remaining names will be drawn to establish waiting list priority to be used to fill openings during the school year for which the student applied. All applications received after the lottery are added in the order in which they are received. The lottery is drawn starting with kindergarten applications, with preference given to siblings of enrolled students. If space is not available for siblings, they are placed at the top of the waiting list for their grade level. It is possible at times for these siblings to move up on the waiting list ahead of other students, as it is always our desire to keep families together. Students who are placed on the waiting list and are not enrolled during the current school year will need to reapply for the following school year.

If you have any questions about setting up a tour or about enrolling your child, please contact Dani Williams by calling the front office at 231-584-2080.

North Central Academy is a tuition-free K-12 public charter school created for quality — with an emphasis on projects and STEM. We promote educational development through the arts and sciences, teaching our students to be lifelong learners.

NCA creates a loving environment where kids feel safe and learn social skills that lead to strong character. Proper culture opens the door to learning. When students love and respect their teachers and peers, learning happens naturally.

NCA uses a competency-based grading system at the elementary level to ensure quality work. Students in grades K-6 earn an A, B or N ("not yet"). Students demonstrate that they understand a concept before progressing to the next level. Secondary students are graded using a traditional grade scale. Relevant and useful projects naturally boost enthusiasm while developing vital life skills and applying core academic skills.

At NCA the fine arts are woven through the academic curriculum to further enhance the educational experience. Unique fine arts experiences are incorporated through vocal music, band, art and theater. The fine arts curriculum compliments brain development and visual thinking.

Our academic program is based on the proven best practices in education, melding brain science, character education and effective instruction. Children are naturally inquisitive learners. The science behind our model of teaching kids how to learn is based on natural human development and how the brain learns best.

We have multi-age classrooms and utilize cross-grade collaboration to build student-teacher relationships. Learning is more efficient when the student is connected to his or her teachers. Cross-grade collaboration allows students to develop relationships with all members of our teaching staff, helping to aleviate any anxiety about switching grade levels.

At NCA, our creed for all students and adults is: "Do the right thing because it's the right thing to do." Our primary goal is to prevent discipline problems by developing good relationships with our students and creating classrooms that are need-fulfilling. When discipline problems occur, we use the moment to teach our students the appropriate behavior so they may get along with others and live effectively in the world. We guide children to make wise decisions about their conduct and encourage them to accept the responsibility for their choices.

At North Central Academy, our focus is on learning and getting along. Research clearly shows that schools with uniforms have fewer disciplinary problems and a greater sense of unity.
